ARE YOU TALKING THE SAME
LANGUAGE?
I recently presented my “Bridging the Generations” program. One of my slides was about the emerging text messaging language, which consists of using abbreviations for just about everything. While I was unloading my car to go to my room in the hotel, I started talking with a gentleman named Mike who was also there for a conference. When I mentioned the generations’ topic, he told me how he had resisted having anything to do with text messaging; however, his 14 year old was consumed with it. So one day he decided he better learn how to do it. After about a week of text messaging with his daughter, he received the following message from her, “Gee Dad, I am so glad you are talking with me.”
If we want to blend the generations, it’s imperative we step out of our own comfort zones and step into theirs. Put on their shoes and take a walk in them. Kudos to Mike!

PUTTING THE RIGHT EGGS IN YOUR
BASKET
It’s time to unzip yourself and do some spring cleaning. Dump the bad eggs from your basket. Some examples would be:
· Excuses,
· Insecurity,
· Anger,
· Self-pity,
· Self-doubt,
· Laziness,
· Fear
· Worry,
· Ingratitude, and
· Lack of integrity.
The bad eggs will destroy your potential for reaching dreams and being who you want to be. Think about it—which ones do you have lurking around and taking up space in your brain? The powerful products for higher achievement include:
· Ambition,
· Accountability,
· Consistency,
· Commitment,
· Confidence,
· Follow through,
· Character,
· Integrity, and
· Love.
KEYS TO BUILDING EMPLOYEE
LOYALTY
Studies show that over 55% of employees are not engaged in their work. Research tells us that paychecks are not the most important things to most employees. When one is asked, “What makes them happy at their job?” Other things seem to be a determining factor. So what reigns supreme on the “I love my job” mindset?
What are three things you could be doing better to build employee loyalty?
Bring out the best in your team – and their best will come back to you.
