Oprah Winfrey is starting her own network, (the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN)). She’s searching “for the next TV star of “Your OWN Show,” and has invited people to submit a three-minute video pitching their program.  I've submitted my video for “Life Matters with Shelley,” a program of validation and hope for the 50 million people living with chronic illness and disability. What is “Life Matters with Shelley?”

“Life Matters with Shelley,” would be a weekly program where I’ll introduce you to celebrities and everyday folks, who, in the face of tremendous obstacles, have not only found a way to accept their circumstances, but have created opportunities to give back in ways that would never have been possible had their lives gone “according to plan.” Part shared experiences and a sense of knowing you are not alone, and part encouragement to LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE regardless of your limitations, this program will provide information, support, validation, and inspiration to millions living with chronic illness, disability, or the effects of aging. What can you do to help?

The OWN program winner will be partly selected based on Internet votes from viewers.  SO, if you feel, as I do, that my program deserves an international audience, I urge you to take a moment to vote for “Life Matters with Shelley.”

To vote:

Go to www.MeetingLifesChallenges.com and click on the “View it and Vote” button. It will take you to my video on Oprah’s Website. You can watch the video. If you want to cast your ballot for me, click on the green box that says “VOTE.”

OR

Go to www.Oprah.com and click on the gold bar that reads “Your OWN Show.” Then go to “Browse & Vote” and type “Shelley” or “Life Matters” in the search box. Click on search. Watch the video and if you want to cast your ballot for me, click on the green box that says “VOTE.”

It appears I’ll need more than a million votes to be one of the finalists. Even if I fall short, I want the producers to see that there's a huge audience that they're missing - people living with chronic illness, disabilities, & age-related limitations, including their family and friends, as well as the healthcare professionals who work with them.

Please show that you truly believe that “Life Matters!” Together, we can make “Life Matters with Shelley” a reality for the millions who live with the challenges and limitations of chronic illness, disability, and aging.
